What happened in Norway is an incident that we don't have the right to let pass without comments. Undoubtedly, it is a condemnable action that we disapprove, but this is not enough. We must also see who armed the hand of the perpetrator so that we would prevent others to do the same again. We must think of what happened with clarity and sincerity, far from busy words and political correctness so that we might avoid another massacre. Because what happened in Oslo shows one thing, at first sight: it’s not going to be about a singular incident, the story of a maniac. We should, at once, think seriously and with responsibility, otherwise, we are proceeding towards a period that Oslo will be seen in every country, in every town in Europe.
First of all, it’s not true that Anders Behring Breivik was prompted by islamophobic theories. It’s not true that Europe has been affected by islamophobia. So, let’s sort out things and not play with words.
In the end of seventies Iranian fundamentalists invented the word Islamophobia. As Pascal Bruckner wrote in Liberation on (03/ 01/2011), the word islamophobia serves a series of functions: first, it denies the fact of Islamic aggressiveness in Europe and it justifies it at that, by showing it as a reaction of the “bad right-wing people”. Second, it invokes the human rights to justify the Islamic aggressiveness. Third, it keeps prisoners within a spiritual ghetto the young Moslems – boys and girls- that would like to deviate from imams’ preaching. Moreover, it initiates a “thought crime” equivalent to “enemies of the people” that Soviet Union had initiated and persecuted to defame the dissidents.
Bernard Henry Levy, with some other intellectuals, has signed a declaration speaking about the dealing with Islam in Europe pointing out directly that:
“This struggle will not be won by arms, but in the ideological field. We are witnessing neither a clash of civilizations nor an antagonism between West and East, but a global struggle that confronts democrats and theocrats. Like all totalitarian ideologies, Islamism is nurtured by fear and frustration. Preachers of hatred play on these feelings to build the forces with which they can impose a world where liberty is crushed and inequality reigns. But we say this, loud and clear: nothing, not even despair, justifies choosing darkness, totalitarianism and hatred. Islamism is a reactionary ideology that kills equality, freedom and secularism wherever it is present. Its victory can only lead to a world of injustice and domination: men over women, fundamentalists over others. On the contrary, we must ensure access to universal rights for the oppressed or those discriminated against.
We reject the "cultural relativism" which implies an acceptance that men and women of Muslim culture are deprived of the right to equality, freedom and secularism in the name of the respect for certain cultures and traditions.
We refuse to renounce our critical spirit out of fear of being accused of "Islamophobia", a wretched concept that confuses criticism of Islam as a religion and stigmatisation of those who believe in it. “ (BBC News 2006/03/01)
Besides, it’s not true that Breivik moved based on criticism leveled at Islam that the Jews spread in the web. Such a thing corresponds with the acceptance that Noam Chomsky is the spiritual leader of Al-Qaeda since that organization continually conveys his own points of view. In any case, it has already started the rewriting of history in such a way that outlines the role of Jews in the formation of Europe: a recent study of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), based on Paris, has declared Moses ben Maimon, also known as Maimonides, was not a Jew but –catch it! - a Moslem Arab.
Apart from that, why should Jews be accused since Gaddafi proudly declared in Al Jazeera in April of 2006:
“We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe – without swords, without guns, without conquests. The 50 million Muslims of Europe will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades…There will be 100 millions Muslims in Europe. Albania, which is a Muslim country, has already entered the E.U…Bosnia, which is a Muslim country, has already entered the E.U. Fifty percent of its citizens are Muslims…Europe is in a predicament, and so is America. They should agree to become Islamic in the course of time, or else declare war on the Muslims.”
He also said that Europe's conversion would become a fait accompli "when Turkey becomes a member of the European Union."
The truth is that Europe has been soaked through Moslems and not phobia. The elements are more painful. Five years ago the Moslems in Europe (without counting the 80 million ones in Turkey) were estimated 54 million by Zentralinstitut Islam-Archive, which means that they form a whole state within Europe with a population greater than that of Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Ireland and Greece together!
The current of Moslems in Europe is huge: it is estimated that two million reach Europe legally every year, and the illegal immigrants must be added to them. More than 230.000 Moslems – most of them illegal immigrants - arrive in Italy only, which means almost a town like Ghent! In 1971 only Turks were 48.000 and in 2004 were 585.000; in Germany, Turks were 616.000 in 1973, and in 2005 were 2.400.000, whilst in Norway –where the tragic massacre took place -, at the same period, Moslems increased to 121.000 from 9.350 and had more than 100 mosques. In France there were 313.000 Moslems and in 2002, that is 10 years before the main current of Moslem’s entry, reached the 3.034.000 ones. In Greece we don’t have reliable facts, but it will be every year a whole town from immigrants.
The demographic tendency is obvious: it is estimated that in 2020, that is just in 8-9 years, the number of Moslems in Europe will be twice as large, consequently, one inhabitant out of five in Europe will be a Moslem. The result is visible: In Amsterdam, Brussels and Marseille one out of four inhabitants have already been Moslems. In London Paris, Cologne, Rotterdam, Stockholm, Strasburg and the Hague one out of the five are Moslems. Father Gheddo, the delegate of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions, predicted that Islam would sooner than later conquer the majority in Europe.
The situation is very serious. We estimate that very soon Islam will constitute the majority of Europe.
I could go on with elements but I believe that I have already made readers to realize the extent of the problem, and I think it is understandable that the problem is too big for us to confront it by calling upon human feelings.
The problem touches the very foundation of our civilization: should we try to keep our European culture and its values or should we let it dissolve within the waste-water of history?
To put it otherwise: do we wish to remain Europeans or we accept to be inhabitants of an Asian peninsula? Are we ready to renounce our civilization and all these it brings about – the demands of equality, justice, freedom of individual, battles and anxiety for democracy, its literature, culture and art?
Look what it happens: while the experts of the British demographic research esteem, at a report to the government of the country, that in two generations, at the latest, English, Welsh, Scots and Irish people would be the 20% instead of the 80% that are today, the European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malström ask us for fighting against xenophobia!!!
And let’s return to the massacre of Norway: Instead of the ones who believe in the political correctness, Europe, in any case, is not going to resign from its identity on the whole. Invocations against xenophobia can only arm the hands of the extreme ones in order to use their firearms.
It must be understandable that if democrats in Europe won’t undertake their responsibilities and take the subject in their own hands with the decision to find, as soon as possible drastic ways to confront it, they let the fire arms to solve the problem. The democratic Europe is called to understand that not only undertakes itself to give a solution with respect to the human rights, but also to preserve its identity, otherwise it would commit suicide letting the destiny of Europe in the hands of the extreme rightwing people, who agree with Gaddafi: a war against Islam.
Here the subject is oneway: we either seriously fight in order to solve it with humanism, or we let be proved once again that identity is going to be gained with bloodshed.
